Who started Church on the Way?

The Church On The Way (The First Foursquare Church of Van Nuys) is a Foursquare church in Van Nuys, California, led by Senior Pastor Tim Clark. It is one of the denomination’s flagship churches.

The Church was started by a group of Life Bible College (now Life Pacific College) students who began a tent revival on Friar Street in Van Nuys, California, in 1926.

These prayer meetings grew into a church, which was relocated the following year to a newly constructed facility on Erwin Street.

The church began construction on a new sanctuary in 1949, which is still located at 14344 Sherman Way, and finished it in 1951 with a marching band celebration down Van Nuys Blvd.

The church was previously pastored by Jack Hayford and was widely influential in the Charismatic Movement from the 1970s to the 1990s, with services regularly televised on the Trinity Broadcasting Network and aired on its local radio station.

The church is related to several other churches with the same name in Southern California, including La Iglesia En El Camino in Van Nuys, California, and The Church On The Way, Santa Clarita in Santa Clarita, California.
