Harold Samuel Kushner (April 3, 1935 – April 28, 2023) was an American rabbi and author.
He was a member of the Rabbinical Assembly of Conservative Judaism and served as the congregational rabbi of Temple Israel of Natick, in Natick, Massachusetts, for 24 years.
Several of Rabbi Kushner’s 14 books became best-sellers, resonating well beyond his Conservative Jewish congregation outside Boston.

His 14 books include the best-sellers When Bad Things Happen to Good People and Living a Life That Matters: Resolving the Conflict Between Conscience and Success
Most of Kushner’s books went across religious boundaries, because they had been inspired by his own experiences with grief, doubt and faith.
Rabbi Kushner often said he was amazed at the breadth of his readership across theological lines.
