The video of Kurt Zouma abusing his cat was filmed by his brother Yoan Zouma and posted on Snapchat with a string of laughing face emojis. The video also showed him saying “I swear I’ll kill it”.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) took Zouma’s two pet cats away following the incident. The cats are now in RSPCA care.

Kurt Zouma was fined £250,000 by his club and lost a “substantial” sponsorship deal with sportswear firm Adidas. He was also sentenced to 180 hours of community service and banned from keeping cats for five years.

Kurt Zouma plays as a center-back for Premier League club West Ham United, whom he also captains, and the France national team. Kurt Zouma played 151 games in all competitions for Chelsea, scoring 10 goals.
On 11 June 2019, Kurt Zouma made his first start for the France senior team and played every minute of the match, scoring his first senior international goal, in the 4–0 away win over Andorra in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying match.
