Who plays Vanessa in The New Little Mermaid 2023?

English model and actress Jessica Alexander played the role of Vanessa in the 2023 live-action adaptation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

In the original animated film, Vanessa is the disguise that Ursula, the villainous sea witch, uses to deceive Prince Eric and thwart Ariel’s attempts to win his heart.

Vanessa’s character isn’t exactly well-liked in Disney history. Jessica, on the other hand, is a grateful actress, telling Total Film (via We Got This Covered) in a February 2023 interview,  “The songs are amazing. And the costumes are just unreal. I’m very excited for the world to see it.”

She joked that she had developed a signature acting style as a screamer, adding, “I think I’m going to develop a reputation for being a screamer because in all my projects I’m just screaming and being monstrous!”

Directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Walt Disney Pictures, DeLuca Marshall, and Marc Platt Productions, The Little Mermaid stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and a star-studded ensemble cast including Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Noma Dumezweni, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy.
