He founded Usborne Books in 1973, Peter Usborne was educated at Eton and Oxford and whose early career included co-founding Private Eye magazine. In 2012, the company was named Children’s Publisher of the Year in The Bookseller Industry Awards.

He is the managing director and holds a 73.75% stake in the business, which made £6.4 million profit on £40.2 million in sales in 2010-2011.
With a strong balance sheet and assets of nearly £27 million, the company is worth over £50 million with Usborne’s stake valued at nearly £37 million plus other assets and past dividends.
