Who owns the Cullinan 1 diamond? What happened to the Cullinan diamond?

The Cullinan Diamond is owned by Charles III in right of the Crown. The Cullinan 1 diamond largest gem-quality rough diamond ever discovered.

It weighs 3,106.75 carats (621.35 g) (21.9 ounces), (1.37 pounds) and discovered on January 26, 1905, at the Premier No.2 mine in Cullinan, South Africa.

The Cullinan I and Cullinan II stones are now part of the crown jewels, while the Queen’s personal jewelry contains the remaining seven diamonds.

The diamond is housed in the British Sovereign’s Royal Scepter in the Tower of London.

The Cullinan Diamond  was put up for sale in London in April 1905, but despite widespread interest, it remained unsold after two years.

The Cullinan was purchased by the Transvaal Colony government in 1907, and Prime Minister Louis Botha presented it to Edward VII, King of the United Kingdom, who had it cut by Joseph Asscher & Co. in Amsterdam.

Cullinan produced stones of various shapes and sizes, the largest of which is known as Cullinan I or the Great Star of Africa and weighs 530.4 carats (106.08 g) (3.74 ounces).

Cullinan II, or the Second Star of Africa, is the second-largest, weighing 317.4 carats (63.48 g).
