Who Owns Shakira Music?

Hipgnosis, a Merck Mercuriadis investment firm, now owns Shakira Music.

The pop star had sold it to the Hipgnosis Song Fund in 2021, including the publishing rights for her 145-song catalog, which includes hits such as “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Whenever, Wherever,” “She Wolf,” and “Waka Waka.”

However, the company didn’t disclose how much it has bought the songs.

Shakira launched her first single at age 13, and came to fame after the release of her albums, Pies Descalzos (1995) and Dónde Están los Ladrones? (1998).

She broke into the English-language market with her fifth album, Laundry Service (2001), selling more 13 million copies worldwide.

Her singles “Whenever, Wherever” and “Underneath Your Clothes”, became a huge success on the global stage and international market.
