Richard Treat Williams, 71, was an American actor, author, writer, and aviator who appeared in film, theater, and television. Williams died on June 12, 2023, after being hit by a car on Vermont Highway 30 in Dorset while riding his motorcycle. He was transported to Albany Medical Center and died there.

According to Jacob Gribble, the fire chief for Dorset, Vermont, the incident occurred on Monday at 5 p.m. on Route 30 by Long Trail Auto near Dorset, Vermont.
According to Gribble, the incident included only one car and Williams’ motorcycle. Investigators believe the car’s driver was turning and did not notice the motorcycle.
Williams, who was born on December 1, 1951, made his film debut in 1975 as a police officer in the film “Deadly Hero” and went on to star in over 120 TV and film roles, including “The Eagle Has Landed,” “Prince of the City,” and “Once Upon a Time in America.”

He received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as hippy leader George Berger in the 1979 film adaptation of the famous musical “Hair.”
He featured in scores of television episodes, but he was arguably best known for his main role in “Everwood” from 2002 to 2006 as Dr. Andrew Brown, a widower Manhattan brain surgeon who relocates with his two daughters to the Colorado mountain town of the same name.
He garnered three Golden Globe nods during the 1980s and was nominated for an Emmy for his work in the 1996 TV movie The Late Shift.
His wife Pam Van Sant, whom he married in 1988, and two children survive him.
