Toomaj Salehi, born on December 3, 1990, is an Iranian hip hop artist widely recognized for his protest songs addressing societal issues in Iran.

He gained prominence for his activism and outspoken criticism of government policies. Salehi, who also works as a laborer at a metalworking factory, has been a vocal participant in protests against the Iranian government.
Arrests and Legal Troubles
Salehi faced legal challenges due to his activism. In September 2021, he was arrested on charges of ‘propaganda against the regime’ and ‘insulting the supreme leadership authority.’
He was later released on bail but faced another arrest in October 2022 during protests. Salehi was charged with various offenses, including propaganda against the government and incitement to violence.

During his legal proceedings, Salehi’s family expressed concern for his safety, alleging mistreatment and torture by Iranian authorities. Despite international support and calls for his release, Salehi was sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic Revolution Court of Isfahan on April 24, 2024. He has 20 days to appeal the ruling.
