Jones Sr. had played football during his days as a college student in Illinois State.
He played as a fullback and linebacker for the Cleveland Thunderbolts, Tampa Bay Storm, and Buffalo Destroyers of the Arena Football League.
Jones Sr. was a very supportive dad, who trained his son in the game and encouraged him to take it up as a career.

Tony Jones Jr. is a football running back who plays for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL).
Born on November 24, 1997, in Florida, Jones played high school football at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in Florida and then IMG Academy.
As a senior Jones recorded 514 yards and 11 touchdowns and played at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Jones also had a successful collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, where he majored in Film, TV and Theatre.
At Notre Dame, Jones recorded 232 yards and 3 touchdowns in 12 games as a freshman and 392 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns as a sophomore.
During the 2019 Camping World Bowl, Jones made a 84 yard touchdown run, the longest so far in Notre Dame bowl game history.
In 2020, the New Orleans Saints signed him as an undrafted free agent, and made 106 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 42 receiving yards and 6 receptions in 2 preseason games.
After the Saints waived him, he was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks in October 2022.
Jones’ current NFL statistics shows a record of 177 rushing yards, 2.7 rushing average, 9 receptions, and 59 receiving yards.
