Who Is Thomas Thabane’s Ex-Wife Lipolelo Thabane?

Lipolelo Thabane was the former wife of prime minister Tom Thabane.

She was born in 1959, in Basutoland, Lesotho.

Lipolelo grow up on a closely knit famy where she was the youngest of her two siblings.

Lipolelo was married to Thomas Thabane in 1987 before their messy divorce in 2017.

Her marriage to Thabane was her second marriage.

Lipolelo died on June 14, 2017, two days before her estranged husband’s inauguration, after she was murders in cold blood.

She was aged 58 at the time of her death.

Her estranged husband, Thabane had been accused of killing her and was forced to resign his position as Prime Minister at the time.

However, in 2022, the murder charges against Thabane were dropped as a result of the court’s inability to trace a relevant witness to the case.

Who Is Thomas Thabane?

Thabane is Lesotho’s former Prime Minister. He was born on May 28, 1939, and obtained his first degree from the National University of Lesotho.

He is the fifth prime minister of the country who served from 2012 to 2015 and from 2017 to 2020.

Thabane belongs to the All Basotho Convention (ABC) political party.

Thabane has been Principal Secretary for Health under the leadership of Leabua Jonathan, until the military took over in 1986.

Thabane also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs during the military regime of General Justin Lekhanya.

During the regime of Prime Minister Ntsu Mokhehle, he served as Special Adviser.

Other cogent positions he has held in government include Minister of Home Affairs and Public Safety, and Minister of Communications, Science and Technology.

Thabane won a plurality of seats in the 2017 parliamentary election but was forced to resign three years after, due to murder allegations involving his ex-wife.
