Rachel Reeves is the Labour MP for Armley, a district in Leeds West, where she has served continuously since 6 May 2010.

On May 6, 2010, she was elected with a 7,016 majority, a 5,794 decrease from Battle’s majority.

Rachel Reeves was born in Lewisham, London, England. She is 43 years old.  Before working as an economist at the Bank of England, the British Embassy in Washington, D.C., and HBOS, Reeves attended New College, Oxford, and the London School of Economics.

Reeves was appointed to the Department for Business, Innovation, and Skills Select Committee]after becoming an MP, and then as Shadow Pensions Minister in October 2010.

She campaigned against the Government’s proposed acceleration of equalizing state pension ages for men and women as Shadow Pensions Minister.

Reeves has written articles for the Fabian Society’s Fabian Review, the Institute of Public Policy Research, the Socialist Environment and Resources Association, and the European Journal of Political Economy about the 2007-2010 financial crisis.
