Late missionary Loren Cunningham was the visionary founder and leader of Youth With a Mission (YWAM), a movement he founded in 1960, that provides missionary opportunities for Christian youth post-high school, regardless of denomination.

Together with his wife Darlene, Cunningham founded YWAM in Lausanne, Switzerland.
They became enduring figures in YWAM leadership, with titles as Founders of the Mission and advisers to YWAM International’s leadership.
The YWAM has since grown to encompass approximately 2,000 chapters across nearly every country.

Cunningham’s impact extended beyond YWAM, as he oversaw the launch of various Christian initiatives, including YWAM Olympic Outreaches, the International Torch Run, Cardinal Points Prayer Days, the University of the Nations, YWAM Ships, and Pray OMT.

In addition to his influential leadership, Loren authored several books that continue to inspire and guide believers worldwide.
Cunningham passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 88.
His legacy lives on through his family, including his wife of 60 years, Darlene, his children, David, Karen, and Judy, and his three beloved grandchildren, Madi, Kenna, and Liam.
