Pointillism which is also known as divisionism and chromo-luminarism is a painting technique evolved from short brush strokes into fine, precise dots of color to the surface which when viewed afar or from a distance, visually blend together.

Pointillism originated with the Neo-Impressionist painters of the 1880s, who sought to deconstruct the artistic techniques of the Impressionist art movement
Pointillism is quite different and unique from the other painting techniques based on its attributes which include pixelated aesthetics, unmixed colors, and precise application.

Georges Pierre Seurat of French nationality was born on December 2, 1859, in Paris and died on March 29, 1891, at the age of 31. As a French post-impressionist artist, Georges Seurat was best known for devising the painting technique Pointillism. in other words, he is the founder of Pointillism.
Georges Seurat first studied art at the École Municipale de Sculpture et Dessin, near his family’s home in the boulevard Magenta (where he lived with his mother and siblings), which was run by the sculptor Justin Lequien.
He moved on to the École Des Beaux-Arts where he was given conventional academic training, drawing from casts of antique sculpture and copying drawings by old masters.
His formal artistic education came to an end in November 1879, when he left the École des Beaux-Arts for a year of military service.
After military service, Georges Seurat returned back to Paris where he started and shared a studio with his friend. For the next two years, he worked at mastering the art of monochrome drawing and his career took off from there.
