Toronto native, John Tory is the current mayor of the City of Toronto. He has been serving this role for 8 years; from December 1, 2014. However, he announced his resignation after a relationship he had with one of his staffers went viral.

Tory announced his resignation publicly and apologized to his wife, Barbara Hackett, who he has been married to for several decades, how sorry he is and how he is willing to redevelop trust in his family.

“I recognize that permitting this relationship to develop was a serious error in judgement on my part,” he said.

“I want to thank the people of Toronto for trusting me as mayor, it has been the job of a lifetime,” he added.

According to sources, he was having an intense sexual affair with an ex-staffer during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The undefined woman is said to be 31 years old. Their relationship reportedly started during the heat of the pandemic, but ended in the early part of 2023.
