The head coach of Argentina’s national team since 2022 is dual-code rugby expert and former player Michael Cheika of Australia. Cheika, a No. 8 for Australia’s under-21 team, played the position. The Sydney Roosters Rugby League Team in the National Rugby League (NRL) hired Cheika as an assistant coach when he left Australian Rugby. In September 2020, the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR) announced that Cheika has joined the squad in time for the 2020 Tri Nations Series, taking on an advisory role and reuniting with former Wallabies head coach Mario Ledesma.
