Persona 3 is a role-playing game that allows the player to choose between a male or a female protagonist. Depending on the gender, the player can pursue different romantic relationships with various characters in the game.

The male protagonist’s canon name is Makoto Yuki, while the female protagonist’s canon name is Kotone Shiomi. However, these names are not fixed and the player can name them whatever they want.

The male protagonist can date up to six girls in the game: Yukari Takeba, Mitsuru Kirijo, Fuuka Yamagishi, Chihiro Fushimi, Yuko Nishiwaki and Aigis. He can also have a platonic friendship with Elizabeth, a resident of the Velvet Room. Some fans consider Yukari to be the canon girl for the male protagonist, as she is the first one to call him for dates and has a prominent role in the story. However, this is not confirmed by the game itself.

The female protagonist can date up to five boys in the game: Junpei Iori, Akihiko Sanada, Shinjiro Aragaki, Ken Amada, and Ryoji Mochizuki. She can also have a platonic friendship with Theodore, another resident of the Velvet Room. Unlike the male protagonist, the female protagonist does not have a clear canon love interest, as none of the boys stand out as much as Yukari does for the male protagonist.
Persona 3 is a game that explores themes of life, death and friendship. The player’s choices affect how the story unfolds and how the characters grow. The romantic relationships are optional but add more depth and emotion to the game.
