On Thursday, April 6, 2023, he sent the issue to the Los Angeles County Supreme Court. This follows the retirement announcement he made in October 2022. He shared that he was retiring from touring due to chronic pain from an inflammatory disease that affects the spine.

It was reported that the rest of the band had a meeting and fired him as a director of the corporation, completely cutting him off his shares.

According to the lawsuit, Mars is eligible 25% stake in each of the band’s affiliated business entities.

It is beyond sad that, after 41 years together, a band would try to throw out a member who is unable to tour anymore because he has a debilitating disease. Mick has been pushed around for far too long in this band, and we are not going to let that continue,” Mars’ lawyer, Edwin F. McPherson said.
