Chad Le Clos is the most decorated swimmer in South Africa. Le Clos, who has 17 Commonwealth Games medals to his name, is one media from trying and two medals from landing himself in the record books.

Chad Le Clos scored one of the sensations of London 2012, defeating the great Michael Phelps in the 200m butterfly. Four years later, he shared silver with American great in a stunning 100m butterfly final in Rio.

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he tied the record set by Ian Thorpe for the most number of medals won at a single Commonwealth Games with seven medals.

Chad holds the Guinness world record for most gold medals won in the FINA Swimming Worl Cup (Male). He holds 143 gold medals from 2009 to 2018.

Getting started at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, held in July and August in Birmingham, England, Le Clos achieved a spot in the semi-finals of the 50-metre butterfly based on his overall eighth rank and time of 23.80 seconds in the preliminaries of the event on day one of competition.
