Ryuchell, the stage name of Ryuji Higa, was a popular social media and television personality from Japan who was also a model, musician, and activist.

Due to his preference for androgynous and vibrant attire, Ryuchell was one of the most significant personalities in Japan who influenced the genderless fashion movement.

In time, Ryuchell rose to prominence in mainstream Japanese media as an LGBT icon, frequently appearing on variety shows and at events with an LGBT theme.

Ryuchell was discovered unresponsive by his manager on July 12, 2023, in the Sasazuka district of Shibuya, in the offices of a talent agency. It wasn’t long before he was declared dead.

Ryuchell was discovered unconscious in the offices of a talent agency in Shibuya’s Sasazuka area on July 12, 2023.

He was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Suicide was suspected, according to Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Ryuchell was 27 at the time.
