Shamaine Daniels, an immigration lawyer and Harrisburg City council member, will be running against Republican U.S. Rep. Scott Perry in November’s general election.
Shamaine Daniels assumed office in 2014. Her current term will end on January 5, 2026.
Daniels, who moved to the United States from Venezuela when she was 13 years old, announced her candidacy immediately after former Auditor General Eugene DePasquale rejected to run against Perry.

“Given the current context, there was no way I was going to let Scott Perry run unopposed,” she said Wednesday, May 18 after she won the Democratic primary.
“Scott Perry needed to confront someone this November because he has a lot to answer for, and there’s a lot of work he’s neglected to accomplish in his nine years as a congressman in this specific area,” she added.
Shamaine Daniels graduated with honours from the West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2000. In 2004, she received a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
