Parminder Nagra is a British actress born to Indian parents who “emigrated from the Punjab region of India as far back as the 1960s.”

Nagra was born on October 5, 1975, in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, and began her career in the 1990s.
She had her breakthrough role in the early 2000s with the film “Bend It Like Beckham”, in which she portrayed Jess Bhamra.
Afterwards, she went on to play Dr. Neela Rasgotra in the NBC medical drama Emergency Room (ER) from 2003 to 2009.

Since then, Nagra has appeared in various film and TV series such as “Ella Enchanted”, “Twelfth Night”, “Five Feet Apart”, and the British drama series “The Blacklist”, in which she starred as FBI Agent Meera Malik.
She additionally made guest appearances in the TV shows “Psych,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Fortitude,” and “God Friended Me.”
In 2022, Nagra appeared as the titular character in the British police procedural series “DI Ray”, which continues to air on ITV.
Aside from acting, Nagra is an advocate who works with organizations like Oxfam and the United Nations Development Programme, to tackle issues related to poverty and women’s rights.
