Those onboard include world explorer Hamish Harding. His family confirmed on Facebook that he was among the five people aboard the missing submarine.

Harding, a British businessman who previously paid for a space flight aboard the Blue Origin rocket last year, shared a photo of himself signing a banner for OceanGate’s latest voyage to the shipwreck on Sunday.

Also on board were Pakistani energy and technology magnate Shanzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Sulaiman, as well as renowned French diver and Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet and OceanGate founder and CEO Stockton Rush.

A search-and-rescue mission is underway, but no communication with the sub has been established. The vessel has 96-hour life support capabilities, giving rescuers until around midday on Thursday, June 22 to find the five missing men.

OceanGate Expeditions, which charges $250,000 per passenger for the 10-day mission to the shipwreck, said in a statement that its “entire focus is on the wellbeing of the crew and every step possible is being taken to bring the five crew members back safely.”
