Nicholas Roske, a 26-year-old man from Simi Valley, California, has been charged with attempted murder after being apprehended near the house of US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday, June 8 2022.

According to the FBI, Nicholas Roske was armed with a tactical knife, a Glock 17 pistol, pepper spray, zip ties, and a hammer.
Roske expressed his displeasure with a leaked draft opinion indicating that the court had provisionally voted to overturn Roe v Wade, the famous 1973 decision that established the right to abortion.

According to an FBI affidavit, Roske stated that he flew to Maryland “to assassinate a specific the United States Supreme Court justice.” He was detained in Montgomery County, Maryland, early Wednesday morning after calling the county emergency communications centre.
Roske was charged in federal court in Maryland with attempting to assassinate a Supreme Court justice, a crime that carries a potential prison sentence of 20 years.
Roske declined to enter a plea. He was ordered held in custody until his next court appearance on June 22.
