Cormac Karl “Max” Christie Jr. is an American professional basketball player currently with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Christie was born on February 10, 2003 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, U.S. to parents Katrina (mom) and Max Sr. (dad).
Christie’s dad is an aircraft pilot. Max Sr. played college basketball at Parkland College and Wisconsin–Superior prior to becoming a pilot.

Christie played college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans of the Big Ten Conference.

A consensus five-star recruit, Max was one of the top shooting guards in the 2021 class.
On July 7, 2020, he committed to playing college basketball for Michigan State over offers from Duke, Villanova and Ohio State, among others.
On January 5, 2022 at Michigan, Christie scored a season-high 21 points in a 79–67 win against Nebraska.
On April 1, 2022, he declared for the 2022 NBA draft while maintaining his college eligibility.
He was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2022 NBA draft with the 35th overall pick.
