Jim McIngvale famed as “Mattress Mack”, is the owner of the Houston-based furniture store, Gallery Furniture.

He was born on February 11, 1951, to George McIngvale and Angela McIngvale in Starkville, Mississippi, United States.

McIngvale is admired for his energetic, fast-paced sales pitches, typically ending with some variant of his slogan “saves you money!”

His unique sales style emerged from an incident that occurred early on in Gallery Furniture’s tale.

Met with financial difficulties, McIngvale invested all his money, approximately $10,000, in a television commercial to be aired on two Houston stations, however, he became dissatisfied after watching the commercial being produced, hence ad-libbed a sales pitch, talking rapidly due to the limited amount of time available.

The commercial proved very effective, and his sales dramatically increased.

Jim is married to Linda McIngvale and the couple has 3 children; Elizabeth McIngvale, Laura McIngvale, James McIngvale.

Jim McIngvale, known as “Mattress Mack,” the Texas furniture entrepreneur bets $9.5 million on Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl over Los Angeles Rams.

Earlier, he put down a $4.5 million bet on Cincinnati to beat the Rams at +170. On Friday, which happened to be McIngvale’s 71st birthday, one of his workers drove him back to Louisiana so he could wager another $5 million on the Bengals, which was first reported by Houston’s KPRC 2.

According to Caesars Sportsbook, with whom he placed the bets, his $9.5 million stakes would pay $16.2 million.

Jim McIngvale’s reason to wager the big bet is a business decision.

The bet, on par with other bets from “Mattress Mack,” is tied to a promotion he’s giving at his Mattress Warehouse.

Customers who buy $3,000 of more mattresses or reclining furniture will get their money back if the Bengals win, McIngvale reveals.

McIngvale has been carrying out these types of promotions and evading against them with sports wagers for about 15 years, so he’s not feeling too uneasy about his bulky wager.

As a popular retailer, the 71-year-old entrepreneur has relied on gimmicks like this to keep his business alive in the era of e-commerce.

While is this the biggest wager ever accepted by Caesars Sportsbook, this is only McIngvale’s latest super-sized bet. His largest gamble was on the Houston Astros to win the 2019 World Series. He placed a total of $17 million on his hometown team over a couple of months and lost when the Astros were defeated by the Washington Nationals.

The Bengals have never won a Super Bowl and were last in the championship game in 1988.
