Natali Tene was one of the four victims who accused Mario Batali of sexually accusing her in 2017. Tene testified Monday that she met a friend at Towne Stove and Spirits, a Boston restaurant they frequented, around 9 p.m. on March 31, 2017.

Tene said she noticed Batali sitting near her at the bar around midnight. She testified that she was a few seats away from Batali when she tried to take a covert photo of him on her phone. Tene claimed that her friend told her that Batali had caught her taking the photo and wanted her to come over to delete it.

Tene walked over to Batali and apologised, promising to delete the photo if he asked. “‘No, it was fine, no worries, let’s just take some selfies instead,’ he said.

Natali Tene claimed she posed for photos with Batali while he took advantage of the star-struck customer while she was standing close to him. Tene said, “His right hand was all over my breasts, all over my backside, all between my legs.” “I’ve never been grabbed like that… squeezing my vaginal opening and pulling me closer to him. As if that’s a common tactic for luring someone in.”
Tene also testified that the 2017 incident embarrassed her until she saw other women come forward to share similar encounters with Batali, who waived his right to a jury trial in favour of a judge deciding his fate.
