With a distinguished career, Boakai served as the 29th vice president from 2006 to 2018 under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
His political journey also includes a term as the Minister of Agriculture from 1983 to 1985, showcasing his commitment to Liberia’s development.

During his tenure as vice president, Boakai assumed the role of president of the Liberian Senate, overseeing pivotal sessions each week.
His influence extended to supervisory roles in key institutions like the Liberia National Lotteries, Liberia Marketing Association, Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment, and the National Commission on Disarmament Demobilization Resettlement and Reintegration.
The culmination of Boakai’s political journey came with his triumph over incumbent George Weah in the second round of the 2023 presidential election on 14 November.
