Who is John Henry Ramirez and What did He do?

John Henry Ramirez was a 38-year-old former United States Marine, who murdered Pablo Castro, a 46-year-old convenience store worker, outside a Times Market in Corpus Christi, Texas, with the help of two female acquaintances.

The incident occurred on July 19, 2004, when he was 20 years old. . Ramirez stabbed Castro a total of twenty-nine times, killing him.

The three robbed Castro for less than two dollars and then fled the scene without entering the store.

The two female acquaintances were apprehended the next day, but Ramirez fled to Mexico and was not apprehended until 2008.

He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death shortly after. Ramirez was supposed to be executed on September 9, 2020.

That warrant was revoked. Years before this, he was scheduled for execution on February 2, 2017, but the District Court stayed his execution. Ramirez was executed for his crimes on October 5, 2022.

He was pronounced dead at 6:41 p.m. central time in the state’s death chamber in Huntsville, according to a written statement from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
