The Hauer Group LLC’s chief executive officer, Jerome M. Hauer (who passed away in August 2023) worked in the consulting industry. In the states of New York and Indiana, he also had a number of posts in government that had to do with disaster management. Hauer was on the board of directors for Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals as well. From October 2011 to December 2014, Hauer was the Commissioner of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for New York State.

Jerome Hauer was a managing director of Kroll Associates on September 11, 2001, as well as a national security advisor for the Department of Health and Human Services.
From 1989 until 1993, during Evan Bayh’s term as governor, Hauer served as the director of Indiana’s Department of Emergency Management.

After a protracted battle with cancer, Jerome Hauer, the first head of the Office of Emergency Management in New York City, passed away.
Under former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Hauer was the OEM’s first director.
In a statement issued on Monday, the OEM claimed that Hauer’s leadership “forged an effective and unified command” and improved New York City’s capacity to handle emergencies.
