Gregor Townsend is a recognized Scottish rugby union coach and former player.

Gregor Peter John Townsend was born on 26 April 1973, Galashiels, Scotland, the United Kingdom. Not much is known regarding his family background, early life and siblings, however, he has a brother named Craig who was also a rugby star.
Regarding his education, Gregor Townsend graduated in 1995 from the University of Edinburgh with an MA degree in History and Politics. In his career as a player, Gregor Townsend won 82 caps for Scotland and two for the British and Irish Lions.
Gregor Townsend played club rugby in Australia, Scotland England, France and South Africa. He earned his first full cap for Scotland in 1993 and has been awarded an MBE in 1999 for services to rugby. Townsend was selected as attack coach for the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa.
Gregor Townsend is presently serving as the head coach of the Scotland national team. He was previously their assistant coach from 2009 to 2012. He is also a former coach of Glasgow Warriors and was a player-coach for Border Reivers.

Christian Townsend has also played tennis competitively representing the Borders, South of Scotland. He made his Scotland U20 debut in the first round of the 2021 Six Nations in Cardiff.
