George Burns and Jack Benny were best friends for over 50 years, from their days as touring vaudeville performers to their successful careers on radio and television.

They had a wonderful friendship based on mutual respect and humor and never walked out on each other’s acts. They remained friends until Benny died on December 26, 1974, in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, California, United States.

George Burns was an American comedian, actor, writer, and singer whose career successfully spanned vaudeville, radio, film, and television.  He is also known for his arched eyebrow and cigar-smoke punctuation.

George Burns was born Nathan Birnbaum in New York, New York, United States of America. George Burns died on March 9, 1996, in Beverly Hills, California, United States of America.

For his role in the 1975 film The Sunshine Boys, George Burns won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Burns was only a Tony Award shy of being one of the few EGOT award recipients in the American entertainment industry.

George Burns is also a member of the Television Hall of Fame, where he and Gracie Allen were inducted in 1988.
