Jamie Bartlett was a South African. He was, however, born in Britain. James Bartlett was most known for his work in theatre and as the evil puppet master, David Genaro, in Rhythm City.

Before acting in Rhythm City, Bartlett was a well-known and multi-faceted South African actor.
Bartlett’s film career began with American films, including the 1987 action sequel picture American Ninja 2 and the 1993 American Ninja 5 in which he co-starred with Michael Dudikoff and Steve James.

Bartlett also appeared as Joss in Angelina Jolie’s 2003 romantic movie Beyond Borders, an epic tale of stormy romance between two star-crossed lovers.
In the 2004 British feature drama Red Dust, directed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper, Bartlett played Dirk Hendricks, a local police officer, opposite Hilary Swank.
The film, based on Gillian Slovo’s novel Red Dust, follows Sarah Barcant (Hilary Swank), a New York lawyer who returns to South Africa, where she grew up.
