Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao was born on March 3, 1997, in Havana, Cuba to parents, Sinuhe Estrabao and Alejandro Cabello. Camila Cabello’s father is a Mexican who moved to Cuba and as such her family moved back and forth between Havana and Mexico City.
Camila Cabello grew up in Cojímar, East Havana alongside a younger sister named Sofia. She relocated to Miami, Florida, in the United States, with her mother when she was six years old.
Camila Cabello acquired American citizenship in 2008 and she attended Miami Palmetto High School. However, she left in 9th grade to pursue a career in singing. She rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony which was formed on The X Factor USA in 2012.

Why did Camila leave Fifth Harmony?
Camila Cabello’s departure from Fifth Harmony was announced by the group on December 18, 2016. In an interview with the New York Times, Cabello explained that her 2015 solo collaboration with Shawn Mendes, ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, caused tension among the group.

Camila Cabello also revealed that when she was not involved when she asked to help write lyrics for Fifth Harmony songs and that she initially wanted to stay in the group while working on a solo album, but the other members shut her out instead.
In her own words,
“I was just curious and I wanted to learn and I saw all these people around me making music, writing songs and being so free,” Cabello said. “I just wanted to do that and it did not work.”
Camila Cabello also claimed that she had been issued an ultimatum after attending writing sessions with producers like Diplo.
