AJ was the fiance of Grammy-Award-winning songwriter Kandi Burruss. The two are no longer together as AJ passed away in 2009. As of now, Kandi Burruss is no longer with Xscape; the group became a trio and rebranded to XSCAP3.

Kandi Burruss started a relationship with Ashley “A.J.” Jewell in late 2008 and later became engaged to him in January 2009. However, on October 2, 2009, AJ passed away early Saturday morning in Atlanta after suffering head injuries following a brawl outside an Atlanta strip club.

Kandi Lenice Burruss Tucker is an American producer, television personality, singer, songwriter and actress. She was raised by her parents the Reverend Titus Burruss Jr and Joyce Jones. She made her early media appearance as a teenager on the BET series Teen Summit at the age of 15.

Kandi Burruss has appeared in The Real Housewives of Atlanta, 2012’s The Kandi Factory, and Kandi’s Wedding (2014), Kandi’s Ski Trip (2015), Xscape: Still Kickin’ It (2017) and Kandi & the Gang. She is currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia alongside her family.
