His career began in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and became well known for for his catchy tunes, heartfelt ballads, and his ability to write and perform in various musical styles.
Some of Sedaka’s early hits include songs like “Oh! Carol,” “Calendar Girl,” “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do,” “Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen” and “Laughter in the Rain”.
Till date, he is still regarded as one of the most successful pop artists of his time.
As a renowned songwriter, Sedaka has written numerous songs for many other artists. One of them is “Love Will Keep Us Together,” a song he wrote for Captain & Tennille in 1975, which became a number one hit.
