Molly Meldrum has been involved in the Australian music industry since the mid-1960s, first as a writer for Go-Set (1966-1974), a weekly teen newspaper, then as a talent coordinator, interviewer, and music news presenter on the former music program Countdown (1974-1987) and subsequent media contributions.

In January of 1986, Molly Meldrum was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia for his service in fostering international relief and to youth.

Molly Meldrum published his autobiography in 2014, titled “The Never, Um… Ever Ending Story: Life, Countdown and Everything in Between.”
