Who did Karl Robinson play for?

Karl Robinson was fired as head coach of Oxford United due to the team’s poor performance, which included only one point from eight League One games. After being destroyed 3-0 at home by Bristol Rovers on Saturday, they are now in 17th place overall, five points above League One’s relegation zone.

Oxford has been under Robinson’s management for nearly five years. He has previously been the manager of Charlton Athletic and MK Dons.

The club’s coaches, Craig Short, Leon Blackmore-Such, and Wayne Brown, have been handed temporary charge. The group issued a statement thanking Robinson for his services while he was a member of the group but explaining that his departure was due to recent results and performances.

In each of the two seasons that Robinson was in charge, Oxford qualified for the League One playoff; however, they lost to Wycombe Wanderers in the final in 2020 and to Blackpool in the semifinals the following year. The team has only won three of its previous 16 league games under Robinson.

Prior to the game against Bristol Rovers, the team’s chief executive, Tim Williams, expressed his displeasure with the team’s performance and emphasized the need for improvement. Robinson accepted the criticism that followed the defeat and stated that it was to be expected.
