Why does Becky G speak Spanish?

Becky G is of Spanish descent. She once shared that she speaks Spanish to honor her grandparents. However, she did not grow up speaking Spanish fluently, aside from casually having conversations with her grandparents.

Becky then hired her cousin, Cristina as a traveling Spanish tutor who helped her prepare on the road as she made appearances across Latin America and Spain.

Becky G sings in Spanish as well, considering that she grew up listening to Spanish music.

“Spanish music gave me the drive to find my own voice as a young woman in this industry. I think somebody in the psychology realm should investigate the impact on us 200 percent kids who go between cultures, trying to assimilate to both sides,” she said.
