Amusan’s name found its way into the history books after she won the 2022 World Athletics Championships in the 100 metres hurdles, setting a new world record of 12.12 seconds in the semifinal, followed up by a 12.06 in the final to take the gold medal.

Amusan was born on 23 April 1997 in Ijebu Ode, a town in Ogun State, South Western geopolitical zone in Nigeria, close to the A121 highway.

Ijebu Ode is located 110 km by road north-east of Lagos; it is within 100 km of the Atlantic Ocean in the eastern part of Ogun State and possesses a warm tropical climate.
