Katie Swan was born on March 24, 1999, in Bristol, United Kingdom. She is currently residing in Wichita, Kansas, U.S. Her parents are Richard Swan and Nicki Swan. She has a brother named Luke Swan.

Katie Swan’s father had job in the oil industry. She took tennis lessons while on holiday in Portugal when she was seven years old. She was head girl at Bristol prep The Downs School and represented Avon and her school as a hockey player when they qualified for the under-13 national finals.

Katie Swan also attended Bristol Grammar School and proceeded to continue school at Wichita Collegiate School. In 2009, She won her first international tournament in Croatia. In June 2015, Swan competed at the Wimbledon qualifying tournament, after being granted a wildcard entry.
