Where is Queen Elizabeth 2 buried?

Buckingham Palace announced on September 10th that Queen Elizabeth II would be laid to rest in St George’s Chapel at Windsor.

Her father, King George VI, and mother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, are already buried there, as are Princess Margaret’s ashes.

In honour of the queen, the United Kingdom has declared September 19 a national public holiday.

The funeral will begin at 5:45 a.m. EST on that day, when King Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry, and other royals accompany the queen’s coffin to Westminster Abbey.

The state funeral will begin at 6:00 a.m. EST and last one hour. Over 2,000 people are expected to attend the funeral.

The coffin will then be transported to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

More than 800 people are expected to attend a televised committal service. Queen Elizabeth will be buried in a private ceremony at 2:30 p.m. EST.

Before the official announcement, some publications speculated that a special mausoleum for the queen and Prince Phillip, similar to the one built for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, could be built.
