Lesley Manville is known for her frequent collaborations with Mike Leigh, appearing in the films Grown-Ups, High Hopes, Secrets & Lies, Topsy-Turvy, All or Nothing, Vera Drake, Another Year, and Mr. Turner.

Lesley Manville has been nominated for three British Academy Television Awards for the lattermost.

A three-time Laurence Olivier Award nominee, Lesley Manville has won once for her role in the 2013–2014 revival of the play Ghosts and she will portray Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon in the final two seasons of the television series The Crown.

Lesley Manville was born in Brighton, East Sussex, the daughter of Jean, a former ballet dancer, and Ron Manville, a taxi driver.

However, she was brought up in nearby Hove, one of three daughters.

Lesley Manville trained as a soprano singer from age 8 and was twice under-18 champion of Sussex.

Lesley Manville began acting as a teenager, appearing in television series such as King Cinder. At age 15, she gained a place at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.
