Danny Gokey is a singer who gained recognition while contesting on the eighth season of the reality TV singing competition “American Idol” in 2009.

Gokey has formerly served as a church music director. His first wife, Sophia, had died of complications from a heart condition shortly before his audition.

As a result, his emotional journey resonated with viewers, and he became known for his heartfelt performances.

Gokey had finished third place on “American Idol”, and went on to release his debut album, “My Best Days,” in 2010, which ranked top on the Billboard 200 chart.

The album featured the hit single “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me.” Subsequently, he released several more albums, including “Hope in Front of Me”, “Rise”, and “Haven’t Seen It Yet”.

In honour of his late wife, Gokey established the Sophia’s Heart Foundation which focuses on helping indigent children and their families.
