Andrew Quilty undertook an informal internship at Fairfax Media, where he later got full-time employment as a photojournalist at Fairfax Media. He left Fairfax in 2010 and became a freelance photographer in Sydney. However, he moved to New York and joined the Australian collective Oculi in 2007.
