Tim Westwood is a DJ and radio presenter who was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk on October 3, 1957. He is the son of former Anglican Bishop of Peterborough Bill Westwood.

Tim Westwood has become one of the most well-known musicians in the UK’s rap and hip-hop scenes over the last 40 years. One of his first jobs was as a co-owner of the radio station Kiss FM, which was followed by a similar role at LWR and, later, Capital FM.

Westwood began hosting BBC Radio 1’s Rap Show in 1994, and he previously hosted MTV UK’s Pimp My Ride UK.

In 2022, The Guardian described him as a “veteran of the hip-hop scene whose opinions have been able to make or break upcoming artists for more than 30 years.”

Westwood has 14 compilation albums to his credit. When it was released in 2003, the Platinum Edition compilation was the best-selling British urban album of all time.

Westwood has received numerous honours, including the 2016 GRM Daily Rated Awards Legacy Award, the 2010 Radio Academy John Peel Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, and the MOBO Awards for Best Radio DJ in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008.
