In the movie TÁR, Lydia finds herself conducting an orchestra in Southeast Asia in the movie’s final scenes.

Lydia Tár steps onstage in a seemingly low-rent concert hall in an unnamed Southeast Asian country. The lights go down over the orchestra she’s conducting and her transgressions are discovered as her downfall.

Lydia Tár has been removed from the highest position of western classical music, her foundation, and her fame due to her management agency advising her to lie low. Lydia Tár never gets the chance to conduct Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 performance which might elevate her career.

Tár premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in September 2022, where Blanchett won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress.

The film Tár had a limited theatrical release in the United States on October 7, 2022, and then a wide release on October 28, by Focus Features. Tár was named “Best Picture of the Year” by more critics than any other film released in 2022.
