Who Is Sunny Edwards?

Sunny Edwards is a professional boxer who competes in the flyweight division of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), and has held the IBF flyweight title since 2021.

Born on January 1, 1996, in Sutton, London, England, Edwards comes from a family of boxers, with his older brother, Charlie Edwards, being a former WBC flyweight champion.

Edwards made his professional debut in 2016, against Gyula Dodu, and won the fight via a unanimous decision.

In 2018, Edwards won the British super flyweight title, after defeating Ryan Farrag via a unanimous decision.

He had garnered international recognition due to go his skills, and has faced opponents from various countries, including Mexico, Spain, Nicaragua, and Bulgaria.

In 2020, Edwards won the European flyweight title for the second time, by defeating Thomas Essomba via unanimous decision. The following year, he faced Moruti Mthalane for the IBF flyweight title, and won the fight for the third time via unanimous decision.

In 2023, Edwards signed a promotional deal with the DAZN backed Matchroom Boxing, and in the same year, he made his fourth title defense against “the #7 ranked IBF flyweight contender Andres Campos”.

Edwards had defeated Compos, retaining his title for the fourth time.
