June continued to live in Folkestone, having still owned her house there this year.
“I lived in Folkestone for years with Robert, my second husband.
“I wasn’t born there – that was in Suffolk – but I have always felt that some of my roots are in Folkestone”, she once said.

The 95-year old spent a very large portion of her life living in Folkestone.
She told Great British Life: “I have been a fan of Kent for many years, who wouldn’t be?
“It’s not known for its fruit and hops for nothing, it’s a beautiful, fertile county with nice people, a great heritage, a nice coast and some lovely theatres too.”
She continued: “The people in Folkestone are pretty relaxed and they don’t stare at you when they pass you in the street, I much prefer that.

“I don’t mind talking to people but I have never seen what I do as anything other than my job. I’ve never been the celebrity sort.”
The beloved 95 year-old soap opera legend sadly passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
June Brown was best known for her role as Dot Cotton on BBC’s EastEnders.
The actress had a thoroughly impressive 35-year run in Albert Square that began in 1985 and ended when she left the show in 2020.
Dot was almost certainly one of the most iconic and beloved characters on the series, known for her devout Christian faith and hypochondria, as well as her endless cigarette addiction.
While her onscreen life in Albert Square is how she is best known, the majority of her offscreen life was actually spent living in Folkestone. Though not confirmed when, June moved to the coastal town with her second husband Robert Arnold.
The two had married in 1958 and would go on to have six children together. Their marriage lasted for 45 years, right up until Robert’s passing in 2003.
