Holland was born on December 3, 1940, in St. George, Utah.
Since 1994, Holland served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, one of the highest governing bodies in the LDS Church.
Holland has won a few awards including the Torch of Liberty Award by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, and the Washington County Exemplary Manhood Award in 2013.
